Sara Emhoff is a Principal of single-family homes at Board & Vellum, an architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture firm in Seattle, Washington.

Sara Emhoff, AIA

Principal, Single-Family

Sara is a natural problem solver who creates innovative and individualized solutions for single-family residential projects across the spectrum, from targeted remodels to new custom homes. She loves the innate intimacy of designing unique and livable homes and finds it rewarding to work with homeowners, contractors, and craftspeople to guide a design vision as it comes to life. As Principal of our Single-Family practice, Sara’s multifaceted role guiding design, documentation, mentorship, and advocacy keeps her excited, engaged, and passionate about each new project.

Childhood pilgrimages to Fallingwater cemented Sara’s early interest in architecture, which she later pursued at Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. A dedicated residential designer with over 20 years of experience, Sara’s career has encompassed boutique residential design, waterfront homes, and remodels. She specializes in custom new home design and whole-house remodels but enjoys all sizes and scales of single-family design.

Sara’s superpower is placing the timeframe in which a home was built from pictures alone. In her time outside the office, Sara enjoys sunset ferry rides home, spending time with friends and family, and the pursuit of the perfect Gin and Tonic.

Sara Emhoff is a member of the Board & Vellum ownership group.
