I am an artist with five years of experience in the AEC industry, practicing primarily as a landscape architect. My interests are varied and include problem-solving, construction, patterns, permaculture, soils, resource management, beauty, and ecology. My interests and actions are unified by a raw passion for learning and exploring. I actively try to infuse these interests into professional practice, and it has been said that I am organized and intentional in my work. I spent the early part of my career in Houston, Texas doing urban design before leaving to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail (AT).
After the AT, my outlook on life and people changed dramatically, and the draw of the mountains was permanently ingrained. It took only a few trips to Seattle to realize this city supported year-round opportunities to explore and be challenged by nature. I made the move in the fall of 2018 and was lucky to find Board & Vellum.
I live within a mile of the office in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and walk to work most days. This time outside provides endless people-watching opportunities and gives me an unbiased way to observe how people interact with the built environment.
Outside of work, I like to go backpacking, design and sew backpacking gear, draw, paint, and read. I enjoying finding ways to reduce my carbon footprint, listening to music in the Vaporwave genre, and studying maps (especially Google Earth).
I am happy to join the B&V team and look forward to getting involved in the community. It is a great opportunity to join such an energetic firm who is breaking the mold and trying out new ideas in a growing city.
