In 2024, Board & Vellum was awarded a research grant through the One Workplace’s ONEder Grant Program. The ONEder Grant Program supports architects and designers in developing researching that empowers the community to explore the impacts of design and our built environment.
Team members Yi-Chun Lin and Lance Hayes took up the call, developing a research study that investigated workplace attachment in a post-pandemic world.
Through their research, we explored the commonalities and differences between how people of different generations and at different points in their career connect to and within their workplaces. In their own words, the goal of the study was to “uncover what drives psychological attachment in the workplace, particularly within hybrid teams.”
The result is a comprehensive study, including a toolkit for how to develop social, professional, physical, and normative connection in the workplace to create stronger attachment and, ultimately, happier employees.
To learn more, we invite you to read the entire research paper here. Or, listen to One Workplace’s podcast Fostering Connectivity: Encouraging Workplace Attachment where Yi-Chun and Lance dive more into the research methodology and findings.
