Project Associate | Architect – Custom Residential

Board & Vellum is looking for an awesome person to work with us as a Project Architect and Manager for custom residential projects. You’ll be working on all aspects of the project including marketing, project acquisition, design, project documentation, and project management. Design and documentation experience in residential projects in Seattle is a must.

Your personality and attitude will be more important than your skill set; however, please aim to have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with Built Green or Passive House gets bonus points.
  • Ability to fully run multiple custom residential projects, and mentor and work with team members.
  • Professional license desired. (If you’re nearing completion please apply.)
  • We work with a variety of smaller-to-medium-sized projects, so be comfortable with projects of that scale.
  • Familiarity with Seattle codes and permitting is key.
  • Desire to work on retail, commercial, and multi-family projects on occasion.
  • Excellent grasp of assembling contract documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Business development experience and client care skills.
  • Desire to be involved in every phase of office projects.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Be self–sufficient, and able to handle multiple projects and tasks.

  • Have a B.Arch or M.Arch degree.
  • Minimum 0-3 years of work experience.
  • Currently working on your IDP hours.

  • Ability to understand redlines and draft them.
  • Good grasp of assembling contract documents.

Careers at Board & Vellum – Flash Crit with Jeff, Lance and Brian

Architectural / Interior Design Intern

Board & Vellum is looking for an awesome person to work with us in a part-time, temporary capacity, in our newly-launched paid internship program. Through working on a variety of residential, retail, commercial, and multi-family projects, you will gain hands-on experience and valuable exposure to a professional architecture & interior design office. The program will range from three to six months in duration, depending on the candidate and the needs of the office.

Please Note: Our next available internship position begins in September 2017.

Your personality and attitude will be more important than your skill set. However, you should be enrolled in a degree program with a focus on architecture, interior architecture, or interior design; be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week; and have the following skills/qualifications:

  • Desire to work on all project types and learn about the process.
  • Confident ability to interact with staff, clients & vendors in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to be involved in every phase of office projects.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; as well as the Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Be a self-starter, and able to handle multiple projects and tasks.
