Katie Söderlind
Senior Associate | Office Manager
Bringing over a decade of school administration experience to Board & Vellum, Katie has a deep love for truth, beauty, and order. Always in motion either physically or mentally, she is a force of nature, hopefully spreading wit, wisdom, and the barest hint of whimsy in her wake.

Robert Mech, AIA
Senior Associate | Architect
Interfacing analog to digital since 1976, Robert is our resident resource for all things historical. Beyond B&V, he is the proprietor of an Etsy store called AnalogDigital, and has very informed opinions about lightbulbs.

Todd Martell
Senior Associate | Architecture | Residential Studio Lead
Todd’s personal motto is “never stop learning” and it serves him well in the creative and technical practice of architecture. In his spare time, Todd enjoys photography, biking, hiking, all day game-a-thons, and kimchi-making with friends.

Yi-Chun Lin, NCARB, NOMA
Senior Associate | Architecture & Site Design
Motivated by curiosity to connect culture, environment, and human experience through design, Yi-Chun’s generalist experience is expressed through a range of project typologies. An avid reader, seeker of metaphors, and food enthusiast, she revels finding beauty in simplicity.

Aaron is an Idaho native with a passion for both the built and the natural environments, believing the best architecture requires a carefully-designed balance between the two.

Abbas Rachaman

With a degree in music, and years of experience arranging and performing a capella pieces, you may catch Abby making up songs on the fly to narrate her work.

Andrea Detweiler, AIA, CPHC®

Associate | Interior Design
Brie is passionate about helping people take their ideas to the next level with design that marries aesthetic, expression, and comfort. She’s also discovered a new passion: construction documents! Brie’s creativity extends outside the office, where she likes to dance ballet and roller skate, but you can also find her indulging in the newest true-crime docuseries.

Would you like to learn a little more about us?
Awesome! Feel free to explore the pages below, and — of course — feel free to reach out to us if you have something particular you’d like to ask.
Our Story
Board & Vellum is a young and vibrant firm built on the idea that an informed and engaged team leads to better design and happy clients. We wouldn’t be where we are today without passion and hard work, and those same two things keep us going strong today.
Our Process
Bringing your project from “idea” to fruition is a little different at Board & Vellum. We give personal care to each of our projects, and you’ll be in the loop every step the way. The bonus: we are an integrated firm, so each project has access to plenty of great knowledge — and that leads to better design.
Our Culture
We are changing the game when it comes to what it’s like to work in an architecture firm. We provide great benefits, a fun and supportive place to work, and everyone has a say in the direction of the firm. Don’t be surprised if you hear laughter ringing through our office — we have a lot of fun together!
Considering a project? Or, just curious about something?
Send us your questions about design, architecture, interiors, landscape, third places, LEGO rooms… Anything, really. We’re always eager to meet new people, and we’d love to get to know you, your project, and your goals.
