Malcom Richardson, LEED Green Associate
Associate, Client Care Manager
Malcom hails from Capitol Hill in Seattle and has lived in the city for the past 11 years, though his roots run back to Athens, GA. Raised by an illustrator and a mechanical engineer, Malcom took to drawing and drafting early. He attended the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University to study design for the stage, though ultimately, he chose to keep the arts as a personal passion. He then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, minoring in Japanese Language after a year abroad in Osaka, Japan.
While abroad, Malcom would visit Starbucks when he felt homesick, drawn by the warmth of friendly baristas. This inspired him to begin his career at Starbucks, and it was through this experience he developed his sense of service. When he was selected to join the team of a café exclusively for Starbucks HQ employees, Malcom was introduced to the in-house design studio and would spend breaks admiring their design boards, each loaded with photographs, swatches, and sketches.
Just before finding Board & Vellum, Malcom was enjoying an exploration of software project management. Realizing he missed the act and art of making things for people instead of user-profiles, he decided to pivot toward his passion. Now, client care at Board & Vellum allows Malcom to blend his lifelong interest in design with his skills in project management to power his drive to help others be successful.
If you’re out in the neighborhood, you’ll often find Malcom wherever you also find a rich espresso, a sidewalk vegetable garden, or a lively patio brunch.
