Caldera Apartments

Two pool areas received cosmetic updates, such as fresh plantings, new lighting, a bocce ball court, and a new lawn for gathering space. A checkered pattern on the pool deck — mirrored throughout the property — is achieved through stained and sealed concrete, renewing the pool areas without completely replacing the original material. Around the pools, a glass barrier replaces a dated wrought iron gate.

Strategic areas of shelter provide a respite from the Arizona sun. A pool shade over a portion of the pool can be drawn for additional protection on the hottest days, and pushed back when the weather is cooler. The addition of a wood composite deck provides new opportunities to relax poolside, with a shaded cabana and fresh plantings on the perimeter.

The newly updated clubhouse welcomes residents and their guests with an eye-catching ramada in a custom patterned metal. Inside, refreshed amenity spaces are offered, including an indoor lounge, an open-air kitchen designing for year-round use, a coworking space, and a fitness center.

Throughout the property, existing boulders and plantings were refreshed to enliven landscaped areas with climate-appropriate, sun-loving plants, such as agave, bougainvillea, and a variety of cacti. These updates extend across the property, from the road and entry, to significant updates around the clubhouse and pools. In a spectrum of sizes, shapes, and colors, these plantings provide much needed visual interest while also remaining sensitive to maintenance needs.

Additional work included updating the exterior signage concept, refreshing the units with a new material palette and finishes, FF&E selections for an updated model unit and all amenity areas, and accessibility upgrades. These updates reinvigorate the Caldera Apartments, while remaining grounded in its location and environment, bringing a truly luxury feel to the Caldera Apartment community.
