Cloverdale House – 2nd Story Addition – Exterior Rendering

Custom Residential

Cloverdale House

A second-story addition that looks like a whole new home.

Adding height and taking advantage of water views was the goal of this 2nd story addition at the Cloverdale House. Situated on a larger-than-average hillside lot, we transformed a simple, mid-century, hip-roofed structure into a home designed for casual family living and entertaining, inviting the outdoors in, three seasons a year.

Large, pocketing doors along the south façade of the living room addition open onto a generous front yard deck, allowing for indoor/outdoor living with a great deal of flexibility.

Careful analysis of the neighboring properties during pre-design allowed us to make design decisions that would best “future-proof” the current remodel’s views, if other homes nearby also added second stories.

The simple shed roof structure brings a modern touch that left room to introduce Northwest and Craftsman details for a warmer, more welcoming feel.
