Proposed Apartments with Café Space Below

Green Lake Urban Infill

Proposed new apartments in the heart of the Green Lake commercial district.

Sitting just two blocks southeast of the park and positioned on scenic Ravenna Boulevard, these Green Lake apartments occupy a highly desirable urban location. As the final piece of infill on a block of 4-story buildings, the project takes advantage of new zoning as it continues the southern expansion of Green Lake’s commercial district.

Located on an undersized lot, the building proposes 32 residential units on four floors, with an additional below-grade parking level. Facing the boulevard, the building meets the street with 1,800 SF of leasable commercial space.

Among the building’s many unique characteristics, parking is accessed via a shared parking ramp located on the neighboring lot’s development.

The structure’s massing presents a metal-clad box perched above a concrete plinth illuminated such that the box appears to float. Providing a five-foot buffer at the north and south property lines allows the building to distinguish itself from its neighbors, and maintain a strong street presence.

Generous glazing in the upper floors overlooks the boulevard and Green Lake beyond, while carefully composed sections of cedar cladding soften the façade. The board-formed concrete base is punctured by floor-to-ceiling glazing for a strong connection between the street and ground floor commercial space.
