Interior Design for a Coworking Space
The Office at Ada’s
A locally-owned co-working space above the popular neighborhood anchor, Ada’s Technical Books & Café.
Atop the new addition behind Ada’s Technical Books and Café, a second-story co-working space is leased to local entrepreneurs fostering small businesses. The space accommodates 20 people working concurrently, and takes its spirit from computing pioneer Alan Turing, with the theme anchored by an inspirational quote as you ascend the stairs into the space.
With that in mind, we integrated both classic and new design elements. From exposed ductwork to the vintage kitchen fixtures and found storage lockers, the space evokes a sense of history married to the modern.
Three small meeting rooms are defined by a partition of salvaged windows and are identified by period maps of Seattle, London, and Berlin — places important to both the inspirational Turing, as well as to the owners of the co-working business. The workspace forms a connection to the outdoors with a private roof terrace and garden.
With the completion of The Office, the Ada’s campus is in nearly continuous use. A seamless addition to the local flavor, Ada’s truly serves the Capitol Hill community.
