2023 REX/T-REX Award for a Basement/Get Away Room

The Sand Point Home Theater & Backyard Pavilion is honored with “Residential Remodel Excellence” for a Basement/Get Away Room.

Board & Vellum is honored to be recognized by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties with a 2023 Remodeling/Trades Remodeling Excellence (REX/T-REX) Award of a basement/getaway room.

Our honored project is the Sand Point Home Theater & Backyard Pavilion. We collaborated closely with these homeowners to create a timeless design that blended well with their existing home. Colors, materials, and fixtures link the new spaces to the old, as if they've always been there. The new outdoor spaces include a lounge, dining area, and sport enjoy peek-a-boo views of the water. And, inside, guest quarters, playing areas, and an indoor theatre add more places to relax and enjoy.

In the basement, the homeowners had always dreamed of having a state-of-the-art theater. But with a low ceiling in the ideal spot, we chose to dig out a portion of the floor to provide a little more head space. Now, these homeowners can enjoy a night out at the cinema, right in the comforts of their own home!

Projects are judged on aesthetics, unique and clever design solutions, quality workmanship, use of appropriate building material, and budget considerations. We’re honored to be recognized, alongside JM Bogan, Vision Woodworks, and our wonderful clients!
