Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC)
Our team includes Passive House certified professionals.
Board & Vellum is unique in that principal Jeff Pelletier is a Certified Passive House Consultant, and we have a growing number of Passive House certified team members working on both custom residential and multifamily projects. This forward-thinking and science-based approach to sustainability is changing how the public thinks about sustainability and Board & Vellum is proud to be on the forefront. A passive house is an extremely energy-efficient home or building in which a comfortable interior climate can be maintained without active heating and cooling systems. This unique approach to sustainability might come closest to the original intent of greening the built environment: maximize your gains, minimize your losses.
Our founder and principal, Jeff Pelletier, is one of only a few dozen Certified Passive House Consultants in Washington State, having received his credentials from the Passive House Institute US. The certification credential from PHIUS is the leading, most rigorous professional certification available. The term passive house is relatively new (the first passive house was built in Germany in 1991), but simply put, passive building is based on a set of design principles used to maximize energy efficiency. A passive house is an extremely energy-efficient home, in which a comfortable interior climate can be maintained without active heating and cooling systems.
