Stephanie also really wanted “a room with shelves for books with a piano in it that we could close off.” Just such a place sits right inside the front door, an “away room” with an inviting window seat that includes storage. (Benjamin Benschneider/The Seattle Times)

The home has so many built-in cubbies, cabinets and shelves that furniture needs are minimal. The dining room includes a china cabinet and buffet. There is even storage between rooms. White and traditional window trim helps the home feel larger and lends a cozy feel, playing off the concrete floors. (Benjamin Benschneider/The Seattle Times)
